Please help! hi,You are fortunat that you have a normal delivary of health child in spite of fibroid and advanced age.(beyond 35) Why fibroids develop is still not fully understood. There are few observations.Fibroid are not seen before puberty and also mostly not devepop after menopause. They develop more in sterile patients and not commenly seen in patients having children. It is still a debatable question wheather strility causes fibroids or fibroids cause strility. My late teacher before 50 years used to teach us in medical school that" UTERUS IS A ORGAN WHICH SHOULD BEAR SOME THING,IF NOT CHILD THAN A FIBROID" oral contraceptives act by drepressing ovulation, and when taken for many years,it decreases menstrual blood flow and may some times cause complete stoppage of periods.
