MENORRHAGIA: 41 day cycle for a 32 yr old is it normal?From: LdyBug (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Apr 2009 16:10:03 -0500 (CDT)
Regular cycles for myself are between 28-32 days...Although I have gone 40 days two other times in the past 5 years....never have I had so many symptoms and strange occurances. Last period was March 11. I havent been on birth control pills in probably 8 years! We have used natural family planning and my husband and I both follow my cycles. Have had two children.. youngest breast fed for 3.5 yrs with menstruation returning at 6mo post. I've always had PMDD except in the last year when many things changed for the good in my family. After my last period March 11, 2 week after end.. I had what the nurse at my o/b's office called "old blood"..4 days of the end of my period right in the middle of my cycle.. next period did not show up until 41 days after March 11.. which was April 20..that day I had thick bloody mucous.. not clots which is normal for me to have.. but thick mucous..reminded me of losing my plug with my daughter.. the second-fourth day were a normal period. Prior to, or leading up to, menstruation showing up.. I had blurry vision, insomnia, leg throbs, dizziness, decreased appetite, minor nausia, decreased mental clarity, no energy, mood swings, depression, headache (which Ive had for a month now), weight gain, swelling. The week of having my period.. I was unable to cope with anything life threw at me. Depression so bad I could feel it in my face. Now it is the following monday and here I am with some twinges and pains and bloody tinged mucous again.. I have a doctors apt tomorrow but wanted to know someone elses take on what Ive shared here. I should say also that there wasnt any more stress than normal (Im a full time stay at home homeschooling mother of two). I didnt take a pregnancy test. My husband had a vasectomy in November. Im healthy otherwise.. run, hike, do kickboxing, am homeopathic and an all around health freak. Depression is genetic in my family. My moms gone through "the change" shes 53. Have recently had a pelvic/pap that came back normal and also a complete physical. My thyroid was tested came back "normal" but my doc failed to do a hormone panel. I do drink socially 3x a mo if that.. Ive recently read that this can affect the hormone levels in a women perimenopausal. Thank You so much!
