BREASTHEALTH: National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) - breast cancer careFrom: Hope Waltman (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 19 Apr 2009 13:34:58 -0500 (CDT)
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a new program administered by the American College of Surgeons that sets rigorous standards for breast cancer care. NAPBC-accredited centers provide evidence-based medicine, and undergo extensive review before selection. These comprehensive, multidisciplinary programs are assessed on 27 essential standards of breast cancer care, including imaging technologies, breadth of radiation and medical oncology programs, reconstructive surgery, survivorship programs, and a "patient navigator" to help patients through the complexities of breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. A fully accredited program, such as Virginia Hospital Center's, must comply with at least 90% of these standards. Reaccreditation requires an on-site review every three years. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/146215.php Best Regards, Hope Waltman, WHF Moderator http://www.hopeforfibroids.org
