Re: CIN: HPV and CIN 3From: CLS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 25 Mar 2009 23:04:07 -0500 (CDT)
Von, when I was addressing dysplasia, I hunted for comparative studies, and they stated there was between a 10% and 27% chance of a recurrence within five years, after treatment. This was upsetting news to me. I also heard negative information about the vaccine accelerating dysplasia in women who have already been infected with HPV, from an OB/GYN. However, there is something better. It is therapeutic medication, and unless women start putting pressure on their elected representatives to fund the research, those profiting from surgery are going to prevent it from becoming available. Nventa has HspE7, CNRS has MVA E2, and Roche has the vaccine TG-4001, which has therapeutic properties to clear up dysplasia caused by HPV-16. Likewise, organizations, such as the John Hopkins Medical Institute are researching and pushing for medication. You can also check http://www.clinicaltrials.gov to see what else is being tested. I have been in contact with some of these organizations, and what they have is very exciting! I'm personally bitter toward my ex-doctors because I asked about medication, and they told me there nothing being developed. Either the weren't keeping up with their professions, or they intentionally lied because they wanted to make money from LEEP surgery. But there is hope, and we can make it happen faster.
