Dr.Futterweit: It is not the BCP specifically that causes these menstrual abnormalities. When they occur it is usually due in the opinion of many experts to the specific hormonal disturbance that causes irregular menses to begin with. A work-up is is needed to see what the inherent problem is, and then perhaps the reactions to BCP may be more normal.
