GYNECOLOGIC: Lesion in Left OvaryFrom: Rene (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 31 Jan 2009 14:01:24 -0600 (CST)
I had a CT scan due to chronic LLQ pain that revealed a 3.5 cm cyst in the left ovary. Conclusion: Prominant cystic lesion in the left adnexa 3.5 cm. My questin is what is the difference between a cystic lesion and a cyst? One area of the results states in the left ovary and the other states in the left adnexa. Isn't the adnexa the outside of the ovary? Lastly, is 3.5cm considered a small cyst? I am concerned about the possiblity of this cyst being cancerous altough the CT did not reveal and further details. I suppose an ultrasound would be needed to determine that. My greatest concern is that I have had other symptoms that I had pushed aside as being costipation, bladder spasms, or IBS. Any explanation to help me understand would be appreciated.
