I just found out that I am pregnant, I am approximately 5 weeks. I have been using the Duragesic patch for almost one year now for chronic muscle pain. I was hospitalized for 8 days three years ago for a sudden onset of severe muscle spasms. After traveling from Oregon to the Cleveland Clinic I was diagnosed with "Viral Myositis". Prior to this illness I was even reluctant to take Tylenol. I have been on many pain medications and have found the Duragesic patch to be a lifesaver, it is the only medication that I use for pain. I use the 50 mcg patch and change it every three days. I am very worried how this may effect the baby and if I can safely continue to use it through the pregnancy and when breastfeeding. I have tried to find studies/literature on this without much luck and would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance for your help.
