OVARIANCYST: how worried should I be?From: KellyJean (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Dec 2008 14:30:43 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst of 4.8 X 4.2X 3.8 CM in my right ovary. I also have three fibroids - two exophytic fundal of about 3.6 X 3.8 x 3.6 CM and one at 3.2 x 2.7 x 3.2 cm. I also have one in the body at 4.4 X 4.1 X 4.5 CM. I have occasional pain, more lately than before. I have IBS, which has been reasonably under control, but have noticed that now have to visit a restroom more often - sometimes at 30 min, or 1.5 hour intervals. I have minor back issues and can not sit still for long time periods as I will develop back pain. To keep the IBS under control, I drink at least 6 - 8 glasses of water daily. I have been recently called to jury duty and have been told this will be at least 5 days, possibly longer. I am trying to determine if I am in any danger from the cysts and fibroids. I have been told that jury duty will involve a lot of sitting and a long day. I currently only work 4.5 hours a day, which helps, since I know that if I have pain, I will be going home shortly. I have been told that you can not bring water into the justice center. I am also wondering if I have a good reason to ask for a medical excuse from jury duty. I am very concerned that I will not be able to make the hour trip downtown without needing a restroom ( of which there are none until I get to my destination) and I am worried about the cyst twisting the ovary. thank you in advance for your help
