PREGNANCY: 36 weeks pregnant - strange feeling in chestFrom: Worried (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Nov 2008 20:38:16 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I'm 36 weeks pregnant and have been getting these strange feelings in my chest. They are hard to describe - they feel a little bit like a weight on my chest/ bubble inside my chest or as if I might have been holding my breath or not taking in enough oxygen. I have had heart palpatations in the past and it is a similar feeling to that. Although when I get those strange feelings I always check my pulse and it seems to be okay. My iron levels also seem to be fine. For a while I thought it might be the vena cava getting compressed but it always seems to happen when I am sitting completely upright - relaxing, watching tv etc. Is it possible to compress the vena cava while sitting upright? I've asked the mid-wives and they didn't seem to know what i was talking about. As the pregnancy progresses I'm getting those feelings more and more often. Should I be worried? I'm more concerned about how this might be affecting the baby than me. It doesn't make me dizzy or anything just feels odd.
