YOUNGWOMEN: BC Hormone effecting Mood/Libido ?From: eeBz (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Sep 2008 14:27:51 -0500 (CDT)
I'm going to start off with making sure you know I am Male, and I'm posting this in a desperate attempt to find a solution to save my relationship. My girlfriend and I have been dating for over a year, Everything has been more then great. We don't have a normal relationship, I live in California, she lives in PA, but I have had a fortunate work year this year, and I was able to visit her a lot, so its not too bad. She has just recently started taking Ortho Tri Cycln, starting in late June or early July I believe, and the last time I was out there was in august. During my trip, which consisted with 9 days, the first 4 were absolutely amazing, as she was just coming down from her period, she was very affectionate and very responsive sexually, but the last 5 days, it was like a switch turned off and It felt like she wanted nothing to do with me. Granted this could be my fault, as when I noticed the change, I made a big deal about it, but I'm male, messing stuff up is what we do. After I left she still seemed anti-affectionate, never going out of her way to add something to the relationship, that is, until her period came around the next month (the same time as our one year anniversary) where she became super-affectionate, sexually aroused, etc... a clear hormonal change. But after that she's dipped lower then ever now, and we are at the point where we are taking a break. After plenty of discussion she does love me and care for me, but she has no desire to actually be in a relationship. So now that the background is out of the way, my real question is, Is there anyway her Birth Control could be affecting her libido and or mood to cause this problem? I understand maybe she's just acting her age, and what she wants out of life may have changed, but She's more confused about this then I am, and this is the only explanation I can come up with, using my limited knowledge of hormones and Etc. Any help you can give, or ideas you have will be beyond greatly appreciated.
