GYNECOLOGIC: Spotting for 12 days before period, spotting every cycle (plus miscarriage)From: Jen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Sep 2008 08:14:11 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Please help me Since stopping the pill 1 year ago I have had alot of spotting (midcycle bleeding) before I get my period. I don't get any spotting when on the pill. For the last 5 cycles I have had spotting for 12 days before my actual period of 5-7 days. I seem to get my period for approx 1 week, then nothing then the spotting starts right up till I recieve my period. (I have always had at leat 5 days of spotting pre-period since stopping the pill) What could be the possible causes for this? My doctor has taken blood tests, check progesterone levels etc. Nothing came up in the blood test (apart from my iron being a bit low). My doctor said to come back if I get more spotting. she said I may need to see a specialist if the spotting continues. What do you think. I had a miscarriage (at 5 weeks) about 4 months ago. Could this be related? We are going to start trying to conceive again in a few months time. (other details: I am 24 years old, and I was on the pill for 2 years but stopped taking it one year ago. by spotting I mean light bleeding which is brown in colour) Thank you for your time
