Re: HPV: DNA---UPDATE to Dr. Lyons, Jo Ann....please help...gyn oncologistFrom: CLS (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 24 Sep 2008 22:53:11 -0500 (CDT)
Robin, having HPV doesn't mean you will have dysplasia and, eventually, cancer. If the virus persists, then a patient is at risk for developing disease. The beauty of the human body is that its immune system can throw off the virus, and most of the time, it can reverse abnormalities, especially at CIN I. I found this link to be very explanatory about the natural progression of the virus, from infection to disease. http://www.merckmedicus.com/pp/us/hcp/diseasemodules/hpvd/natural-history.jsp There is a lot you can do to boost your immune system, right now. Increase consumption of foods with folate, betacarotene, vitamin C, take supplements, etc. I also drink a wonderful concoction, called the Green Drink, which I can give you if you want it. (You'll have to tailor it to your body's needs.) I understand how frightening it is to be faced with this. But research HPV on the internet and at the library. Knowledge is power! Also check to see if your doctor has Roche's AMPLICOR HPV DNA test, so you'll know exactly which virus strain you have. That way, you can set up a strategy for protecting your health, which is very empowering.
