PREGNANCY: Dissolvable Sutures and C-SectionFrom: Lisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Aug 2008 04:26:40 -0500 (CDT)
Roughly 6 months ago, I had a C-section. The closure was done with dissolvable sutures subcutaneous(or so I have been told by my M.D.) followed by paper tape externally. To date, the sutures have not dissolved. I can feel each one if I apply pressure over/around the incision site. Ocassionally, different areas will become tender an irritated or itch pretty badly. Is this normal? I had heard the sutures should have dissolved within 6 weeks or so. I have tried massaging them to see if it would help them break down, but to no avail. Other than that, my incision line has healed nicely. I am just wondering if the sutures will go away because they really bother me. If someone could reply, I would truly appreciate it. Thanks!
