I suffered a miscarriage (blighted ovum) late February of 2008. I was approximately 8 weeks along. I've noticed since then that I've been having unusual pains in my pelvic area as well as flank pain that comes and goes. It is never severe, just annoying. It also seems that my periods are not as predictable as they used to be. For June and July I kept track and for both months my cycle was 35 days. My husband and I are trying to conceive our second child (first born November 2006). I am 25 years old.

For July, I purchased and used a First Response Ovulation Prediction test. According to the test, my LH surge was on the 12th of August (last period began July 29th). I also tested on the 13th and 14th of August even though the test kit said to stop testing during the cycle once a positive result was achieved. Those tests also showed an LH surge (so I had 3 days in a row where the test indicated I had an LH surge). Around the 16th or 17th of August my husband and I had intercourse after which I had some slight bleeding (or what looked like bleeding). Around the 22nd I started to have brown spotting or discharge. It was extremely light and sporadic, although once I wiped and there was a small amount of bright red blood.

Today is the 29th and I am still having brown discharge. There is a slight odor (not fishy or anything, but definitely noticeable to me). About 3 days ago I had another instance where I wiped and there was a small amount of bright red blood.

Around the time that the brown discharge started my breasts became tender and sensitive but that only lasted for about five days and went away about 4 days ago. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests (most recently on the 25th) and both have been negative.

Normally my periods are preceded by a day or two of this brown discharge, followed by a day or two of bleeding, and then concluded with another day or two of brown discharge. I am concerned that I have been having this discharge for over a week now.

Can any one shed light on this situation? I am scheduled to have my regular Pap and gynocologic exam at the end of September -- should I schedule an earlier appointment?

I appreciate any responses or insight anyone may have about this isse. Thanks.
