PREGNANCY: Adderall

I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant and have been struggling with terrible insomnia due to tossing and turning, bathroom runs, round ligament pain and backaches at night. My OB prescribed me Ambien last night. I've been taking 1 pill at bedtime for the past six nights. Other than making me feel groggy and helping me to fall asleep, I find it wasn't helping me to stay asleep and I am still only getting a few hours of sleep each night. I called them today to let them know. I was told to take tylenol PM because the tylenol might help with the aches and pains but that the benadryl would help with sleeping. My OB suggested that I could try Adderall over the tylenol PM if I wanted to. I said yes and am going to pick up the prescription tomorrow. The research I've done online regarding pregnancy and Adderall suggests that it's considered a class C drug and should not be taken during pregnancy.

I trust my OB completely and feel he wouldn't prescribe anything that he feels would be detrimental to the baby at this point, but after the research I've done, I'm worried about the possible side effects it could have on the baby.

Is Adderall safe to take in the third trimester of pregnancy? What possible side effects (if any) could this have on the baby?
