PREGNANCY: Extreme scare with rapid heart beat when pregnant? Affects on the babies? From: Bvp2007 (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Jun 2008 11:17:22 -0500 (CDT)
I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with twins. Last night we had a suspected prowler at our house. My heart rate was up, blood pressure up, and I was shaking like a leaf for a good 45 minutes. I ended up calming down a few hours later but am very concerned about the affect on the babies. I know they probably got a bit of stress hormones, but is it worth calling the dr to listen to their heartbeats. Could their heartrates have been affected? Can one episode of stress with a rapid heart rate hurt them? Do they get affected by this? I have no contractions and all seems to be fine this morning except my sense of worry which is off the charts. Any help would be appreciated.
