Re: PREGNANCY: Original M/C or new M/C, (or menses?)?From: ANNWPMom (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 22 Jun 2008 20:43:36 -0500 (CDT)
Thanks for the reply, Dr. von Almen. If this has all been one m/c, why did I bleed for 2 wks, then stop for three, and then start up again (now at a wk again)? Is this common? I've had 3 m/c's prior to this experience--1 was spontaneous with all pregnancy tissue being passed on the same day and bleeding only lasting a week, and 2 m/cs were missed and had to be medically induced. The starting, stopping, and starting again this time around seems very odd. What causes the body to do this? As for the floating--will all products of conception float (i.e., the placenta and umbilical cord, as well as the actual fetal tissue)? Will they actually float in tap water (I've only been able to find documentation of fetal cells floating in amniotic fluid)? Will fetal tissue float even if it has been dead for an extended period of time? I'd like to know if there is any chance that what I passed on Saturday was actually the placenta and umbilical cord, and if there is any chance of obtaining information from the tissues that might help me determine why I keep m/c'ing and possibly prevent me from m/c'ing a fifth time. Thanks, ANNWPMom
