GENERAL: Surgery in 10 days, contradictory info regarding continuing Celebrex???From: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 May 2008 15:58:39 -0500 (CDT)
I'm scheduled for laparoscopic surgery in 10 days. When I went in to sign the papers last week, my doctor gave me a printed list of meds to avoid prior to surgery. I had been taking Celebrex for the pain, but I discontinued this as it was 2 weeks until surgery and it was on the list. Well, 4 days later, after trying to tough it out by not taking anything at all, I called the doctor's office to find out what I could take. The nurse calls me back and tells me to continue with the Celebrex. I told her that was on the list of meds to avoid that the doctor gave me, and she insisted that this directive came from the doctor himself. I'm not sure what to do. Is this safe? If it was okay to take Celebrex, why would he have it on his list of drugs to avoid? Help! The pain is getting to me and I'm not sure I can hold out much longer. Thanks.
