Re: GENERAL: physical exam.== what all is involved.From: Pat Sonnenstuhl (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 9 May 2008 20:42:16 -0500 (CDT)
Your email actually highlights the issue. Different types of providers do different types of physicals, deepending. I know some OBs/GYNs and or Family Practice drs who don't do breast exams, and do a cursory exam. Others do a complete exam, including a breast exam, pap and pelvic. An internist might do a complete exam. And, if you have a specific issue, then that will be examined more thoroughly (such as strength of hands, etc),and your urologist exam. And, different provider will do different levels of labs, depending. With the costs of medicine now, providers are being cautious with doing every test in the book vs just doing the exact test that is needed to determine what is happening.
So, I suppose it depends upon what kind of a provider you are seeking.
