Re: CHRONICPAIN: what stage am I in?From: Robin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Apr 2008 21:15:44 -0500 (CDT)
Adenomyosis was once known as endometriosis interna. It is Endometriosis that is in the uterine muscle. The only cure for Adeno is hysterectomy and the only way to truly diagnose it is through pathology following a hyst. Some Docs are using MRI, however, the technology just isn't there yet. Here are a couple of links to articles: http://www.wdxcyber.com/npain09.htm This is an article written by my MD, an Endometriosis Specialist: http://centerforendo.com/articles/adenomyosis.htm I had a hyst in Nov 2007 for Adenomyosis. It was first suspected at my lap with Dr. Albee in 1998 from the appearance of my uterus as well as my physical exam. I hope this helps!!
