CHRONICPAIN: Celebrex for adhesion pain? Why does everyone say this is off the market?

My doctor just gave me some samples of Celebrex to try for the horrible pelvic pain I am having, possibly caused by adhesions and/or endometriosis. I didn't want Darvocet or Vicodin, so he offered this to me as an option. Everyone tells me, however, that Celebrex was taken off the market years ago because it is unsafe. The handout that came with the pills states it was never taken off the market. So which is it? I'm trying this for 2 weeks to see if we can put off another surgery (as this would be #3 in a year) and so far I have only taken one capsule with fair results of pain relief for about 6 hours (dosage is one 200 mg capsule every 12 hours as needed). I'm a little worried about taking something dangerous, if it is true that it was pulled from the market. Does anyone know what the truth is?
