DR.FUTTERWEIT: The importance of the ultrasound is in that it shows multiple follicles in PCOS, and other conditions, however. Unlike a positive ultrasound showing features in the ovaries of PCOS, although not diagnostic since it may be present in other conditions, a negative US makes the diagnosis much less likely. Hormonal studies are important and then a diagnosis may be made sfter exlusion of other conditions. A medical endocrinologist may be helpful here. Best wishes, Dr.Futterweit
