I was diagnosed with endometriosis about 11 years ago via laparoscopy and have had 4 laps since then for laser removal of endo. My ob/gyn is about 250 miles from where I live. I am 40 years old, never had children and currently am not sexually active. I was on depo provera until about a year ago when I decided I might want to get pregnant and went off the depo. Since then, my periods have been very painful, getting worse every month. I have now developed a pain on the left side...left lower pelvic area and the left side of my waist. In the last few months, I have had an ultrasound to rule out ovarian cysts and a CT to rule out diverticulitis. Usually iwth the endo, the pain was around tme for my periods and then relieve some after my period. This isn't the case now. it just seems like the pain is getting worse. There is cramping all the time, but this pain on my left is more like a sharp ache. Anyway, yesterday I spiked a temp and the pain was getting worse, so I ended up going to ER after speaking iwth the gyn that was on call for mine. My last period was 3/22 and since then I have had a brown discharge. I have tried tylenol, ibuprofen, ultram, and darvocet for pain relief. So, I go to the ER last night and the doctor told me that it could be the endo, but probably not because I didn't look "sick" enough, it couldn't be an infection because I am not sexually active, it couldn't be diverticulitis because the last CT didn't show that. In fact, he said nothing showed up on the CT so he doesn't know why I have the pain. He said I didn't need any new tests or exams (including pelvic exam) because nothing will show up anyway. He suggested waiting "a while" because I should be getting close to menopause and if it is endo, the pain will go away then. Is it true that if a person isn't sexually active, they can't have an infection causing pain? Also, if nothing shows up on the CT, then there isn't anything there?
