HYSTERECTOMY: hysterectomy 3 months ago and increasing pelvic pain. Why?From: Michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 24 Jan 2008 14:24:30 -0600 (CST)
I thought after a hysterectomy I wouldn't have this pelvic pain anymore, but it's 3 months postop and it's back and getting worse. I have moderately severe pain on the left side - pulling, throbbing, aching, and sometimes burning. I can feel an awful pain on the side when I urinate, sort of like something is being torn. I thought at first it was ovulation pain, but it never seems to go away, although for a few days it will be less severe. Last week there were 5 days where it was moderately severe pain, followed by 3 days of it being milder, and then now another 3 days this week where the pain is increased and moderately severe. It even hurts when I sit too long. I'm also starting to have pain on the right side, although it hasn't reached nearly the pain level as the left. I have menstruallike cramps down the middle of the pelvis, which I don't know how is even possible without a uterus. The pain has been gradually increasing over the last 6 weeks. I can fortunately still take the edge off with Advil or Aleve, but I've gone from only having to take it at night to now also having to take it during the day to get by. I really wish I knew what was going on. I would feel awkward seeing the doctor this early on because I just don't see how anything could develop within on 3 months. I do still have both ovaries, but they were both normal at the time of the hysterectomy and I can't believe anything could happen to them that quickly such as a cyst. It's not a UTI because that was tested by my GP a couple of weeks ago - small unconcerning amount of blood but that was all. Any help or ideas would be welcomed. Thanks.
