Liz Without an exam I can not be positive, but lump sounds like a hair follicle cyst. You can sit in hot tubs of water 2-3x a day and it should help. Other possibility is a bartholin cyst, but this is usually closer to the vagina than you are describing. I do not think either has relationship to period problems. Hope this helps...Dr. von Almen
