ONCOLOGY: new cyst on remaining ovaryFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Aug 2007 19:16:32 -0500 (CDT)
Hi. I am 27 years old and in April I had a unilateral oopherectomy. There was an 8 cm multiloculated benign tumor growing on my left ovary, so the entire ovary was taken. Naturally given my age ai am very concerned about childbirth and had another ultrasound on my right ovary a few days ago. Although in the past the Dr assured me that it would be very slim that something would grow on the right ovary, now I have a simple 3.4 cm cyst growing (in just 4 mo since my surgery w pics to prve my R ovary was fine) My dr is confused bc i have been on the pill for years and so I should not be ovulating or creating anything for an egg to grow, and therefore should not be making hormonal cysts. She is referring me to an oncologist, but thinks I should be fine. I ahve my doubts considering the last time when I was first told about any cysts, she said it was of no concern but then took out my ovary 7 months later. I feel that waiting 2 months for another ultrasound (as she suggested) is too long! I don't have another ovary to work off of and at the rate the last one grew, I am clearly very nervous. In your opinion, is it common that another tumor would grow so soon? And please help me what do I do? I am so scared. Also CA125 was negative in April and all lab reprts came back negative from the 1st tumor. She said this ws "simple" as opposed to "complex" Also is it possibly I have policysitc ovaries? Thank you. Andrea
