CHRONICPAIN: Low estrogen and pain during sexFrom: michael (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 27 Jun 2007 14:25:34 -0500 (CDT)
My girlfriend started the pill about a year ago. Shortly after she started experiencing pain and bleeding during sex. It turned out her body stopped making it's own estrogen and was relying on the pill she was taking, which was a low dose. Her hormone levels were post-menopausal and as a result she had a small vaginal tear. She stopped the pill and used a steroid cream which took care of the tear, but it's now been a few months and sex is still uncomfortable and her hormone levels are probably still low. We don't have the money for her to get hormone treatments so we are basically stuck, she's still paying doctor bills from when we were trying to diagnose the problem. Is there any other way?
