Absolutly, the monophasic pill is the one used, and now there are some specific pills with this purpose in mind. The new one is called Lybrel <<http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=78115<< and goes along with some of the others. Every pill and method have their side effects and potential problems, and affects each person individually.
