CONTRACEPTION: Cervical Ectropion- Birth Control PillsFrom: Marshmellow (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 16 Apr 2007 23:59:22 -0500 (CDT)
Can someone please suggest a variety of birth control pill that lead to a lower incidence of cervical ectropion? I started Ortho Tri cyclen in my mid to late teens, and switched to Cyclessa four years ago. I had a short period, prior to the switch where I was having yeast issues... thus the switch. I am in my late twenties, have had the a good deal of bleeding from cervical ectropian for the past 2 yrs, primarily during/after intercourse. Previously, I only had this issue very slight bleeding during pelvic exams, I recall my first OBGYN in my teens mentioning the mild ectropian. I have had a variety of tests ( its not an STD related issue), and have been chemically cauterized once. This stopped the bleeding for about 5 months. I would like to contiue to use birthcontrol... I know that this issue is casued by my estrogen level, due to the pills. My second question, is Ortho Tri Cyclen lower in estrogen or Cyclessa? Could this switch have been the cause. I have an OBGYN appointment in one month and would like to have done some research on alternate pills before I go. My doctor recently recommended the Nuva Rings as a possibily for me, any thoughts? Thanks for assitance.
