UROGYNECOLOGY: UTI's

I have a history of getting UTI's. With each infection the symptoms are becoming more severe (Painful pelvic region, blood in urine, frequent urination). Also the onset of the infection is more rapid with each infection. I have tried to find a link between each occurrence to see what could be causing them. The only relation between each instance is they occur during or right after a time of stress (for example moving or exams), also I only began getting UTI's once I switched from the birth control injection to the pill (ortho tri-cyclen lo). Any ideas if either of these can be to blame or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks, Jenn
