Advice please on problems with Diaphragm

I recently married and started using a diaphragm (a little over a week ago). Prior to the wedding, I was celibate for about 7 years, so everything's a little awkward all over again. I was fitted for a diaphragm and practiced a few times before using it, in the Dr's office and at home, but I have some concerns that I may not be inserting it correctly and that it might not be effective. First, it unrolls about halfway past the pubic bone, so I wind up covered in spermicide - I'm concerned I don't have enough left in. Next, I can feel that it is lying flat over the cervix and behind the pubic bone, but it seems to drift or rub up and down behind the bone - the instructions use words like "locked into place", which is not at all how it feels. Finally, I always empty my bladder before inserting, but I feel pressure as if I need to urinate, which often continues the whole time I have it in. I also feel unable to take a bowel movement (this may be mental, I feel the same way with a tampon in).

Should I explore other b/c methods? We are also using condoms, because sometimes it's not worth the trouble.
