large fibroid - options? (drs pls)

Need some advice. I have a large fibroid (makes me look ready to deliver!) Dr. says it's a fibroid that was large, then died off and became cystic/fluid filled.

Would a myomectomy work? It's pressing on my kidneys so I need to get it out. Dr. says that it may be stuck to my ovaries and other organs that a hysterectomy is really the only choice after looking at the CT scan.

I'm going for second opinion, but would like other opinions. Do you always have to get a full hysterectomy including ovaries if fibroids are that big and engulfing other organs? Do they grow 'onto' other organs like cancer does? If they do, could they separate the tumor from my ovaries? I'm a little concerned because I don't want a hysterectomy 'cause I still want kids and have a history of family heart disease.
