Infections will occur when there is a break in the skin, just like cutting the skin on your arm and not taking care of it. Unfortunately, there is a wonderful culture system near and in the vagina, so it is hard to keep the area clean and dry.

Chronic/continuous pad use, intercourse or too much washing can all lead to the symptoms you describe. Sometimes using alternating applicaitons of Desitin and estrogen cream will be of value. Otherwise, biospy and send the specimen to a GOOD vulvar pathologist.
