Re: 2 abnormal Paps & 1 abnormal colposcopyFrom: Isa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Aug 2003 15:23:30 -0500 (CDT)
I had 3 abnormal paps until my doc decided on a colpo (which i have to admit was the most traumatizing GYN experience i've ever had~ the biopsies he removed were extremely large and i felt every bit of procedure!). I waited for the results for 2 weeks and then had a Cryo a week later..i have absolutely no clue why your doc would wait 4 months unless his/her schedule is too busy to accomodate a procedure. All the GYN's i've dealt with took my abnormal paps very seriously as every doc should. Now, u should ask what the results of the Colpo were.. obviously it was not cancer if your doc isn't rushing to remove it.. most likely it's an HPV infection which is the number one cause of pre cancerous cells on your cervix.. i personally think u should get this done ASAP! no matter what the severity is, its still an abnormalty and it should be treated immediately!!! and it's a fairly quick and painless procedure so just request it and get it over with because if it is HPV, then your partner is infected or you could infect other people and you'd want it removed before it becomes cancerous!!! Good luck!
