Post LAVH questionsFrom: Robyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 31 Jul 2003 22:44:52 -0500 (CDT)
Had my LAVH on 7/8, everything went well and besides a few minor problems I'm recovering very well. Yesterday I went for my first follow up exam. My doctor said everything looked ok but said no intercourse for at least 8 wks from the surgery date. Everything I've heard and read said 4 to 6 weeks before having sex. I asked the doctor about this, he told me I'd required more sutures than normal. In addition to the stiches at the top of my vagina he had to stich the bottom length. What would require him having to do this? Also I know three other women who have had hysterectomy one had abdominal surgery the others vaginal. The girl with the abdominal surgery said intercourse was no problem after her surgery. The two who had the vaginal procedure have told me sex was quite painful for a good while after they resumed intercourse. Can someone tell me why this would be. I know both the vaginal and abdominal procedures have their advantages and drawbacks. Its just that in retrospect I wonder if the abdominal surgery may have been a better route for me. Many thanks for your time.........Robyn
