The pain usually shows up on CD 3 and gets extremely strong during the overnight hours. I often cannot sleep through them and am up until 4 and 5am. Occassionally laying on my tummy or use of a hot water bottle helps, but much of the time, nothing does. Thinking it is gas pains, I take Ovol but it doesn't help. My tummy feels very bloated as well and for the next 2-3 days after the pains, my insides feel very tender.

My question for the doctors here is: have you heard of menstrual periods aggravating the symptoms of GERD or hiatus hernia? Could this be something else...should I be seeking another opinion?

Hi I suffering the same problem when I got my period. When the pain is so severe and after I took my pain killer , sometime I have to rush to the clinic to get a injection from my doctor. Maybe u get the doctor to issue u a pain killer call " synflex " that what I be using since 12 year ago. It does help me a lot and I only take them the first two day of my period. I hope it help you too.
