A bacterial infection is caused by a germ which could originate from
your own body. Knowing which germ specifically is causing the
infection(through a culture) helps in determining which antibacterial
agent/medication to use. Inadequate treatment or no treatment could
result in aggravation of the infection and pelvic infection and
inflammatory disease.
