Transvaginal just gives them a different view than the more traditional abdominal ultrasound. Your uterus may lay at an angle such that the transvaginal is better. One of the physicians can probably relate diagnostic possibilities better than I can. The technician will hand you a slender probe and ask you to insert it. They will then take it and do the study. I have had multiple TVUS' and they aren't to bad. Best of Luck,
