Uterus Tipped BackwardFrom: Just (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 31 Mar 2003 15:20:12 -0600 (CST)
Recently, during my first pelvic by a gyn rather than my GP he mentioned that my uterus was tipped backward. It has never been a problem, I had 4 normal pregnancies, 4 easy deliveries. However, I am curious. After my 4th child I had a tubal ligation at which time the surgeon did a bladder and uterine suspension as well as an appendectomy. Would the uterus tipped backward be a result of the uterine suspension rather than natural placement prior? Just what is the uterus "suspended" from during a uterine suspension? Come to think of it, when a hysterectomy is done and the ovaries left ... do the ovaries just "float" around the abdominal cavity or what are they "attached" to? What are the fallopian tubes "attached" to if there is no uterus?
