Re: Impact of endometrial adhesions on colonoscopy

Linda,

I have extensive abdominal and pelvic adhesions (due to surgeries and active Crohn's disease). I've had over a dozen colonoscopies and ileoscopies. my doc has always been able to complete the exam. yes, it can be more technically difficult and it can be more uncomfortable, but not necessarily. besides, that's what the drugs are for. the painkillers might not be able to take away all the pain, but the other drugs (usually Versed) will keep you from remembering the pain. for mine, I kind of remember that I was sometimes in pain, but I don't remember actually feeling that pain, just have a vague recollection of my reaction to it (yelling at the doc -bless his heart!).

find a good endoscopist that has lots of experience and is comfortable with using the variety of conscious sedation meds. for most, the prep is worse than the actual scope.

like you said the virtual scan has limitations. scoping and biopsies are your best bet.
