Question to Dr about pelvic painFrom: Marissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 30 Nov 2002 16:42:35 -0600 (CST)
I am 30, have never been pregnant, and am on monophasic BCP (have been for the past 10 years or so). I have been having an intermittent severe right lower quadrant pain for about a month. I feel that it is near my ovary but I am not certain. I had an ultrasound which was normal. My ob/gyn is not sure what is going on, so I thought I would post the question here in case a doctor can give me some ideas about what might be going on. The pain is in the right lower quadrant and is severe stabbing/twisting type (up to 9 out of 10 on a pain scale). It lasts between 12 - 24 hours and occurs around every 2 or 3 days. At other times there is some residual pain (around 3 to 5 out of 10 on a pain scale). There is no other problem associated with it (no bowel or bladder problem), except I experience some bleeding around 12 hours after the onset of pain on some occasions, although not on every occasion. I have had laparoscopic surgeries in the past and no adhesion or endometriosis was seen on the last one, although endometriosis was seen and removed on a previous surgery. Any suggestion as to what it might be would be very much appreciated.
