How Soon Is Too Soon After Childbirth, A Child Spacing Question...From: Maxine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 16:58:43 -0500 (CDT)
I had my baby 3 almost 4 weeks ago and am already planning to get pregnant again really soon. I was just wondering how soon is too soon to get pregnant again after childbirth? The reason I ask is cause I had and still have plans to get pregnant 6 or 7 months from now. At my advanced age ( soon to be 39) I can't afford to wait a year or two before once again trying to conceive. It's a miracle I got pregnant at age 38. I want to have all the babies I can before the dreaded menopause hits. My OBGYN is wonderful he gives me alot of hope saying I'm still young and have plenty of good eggs especially since I don't smoke, drink , or touch illegal drugs. I try to have a good diet, take control of my stress levels and drastically cut down on caffeine. I heard that some doctors recommend waiting at least 6 months after childbirth before trying to conceive again in order to give the body that extra time to fully recover from the 9 months of pregnancy. I want to know what do you think?
