pPROM at 19wksFrom: Jamie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Sep 2002 14:50:58 -0500 (CDT)
I am 26 years old and have two children, ages 7 and 1. Both were uncomplicated full-term vaginal births, the most recent was at a licensed birthing center with no drugs. I recently had pPROM at 19wks 3days pregnancy. Labor was induced and I gave birth to my third child (stillborn) 9/15/02. Had D&C afterward for retained placenta. My bloodwork and culture for GBS (which was positive last pregnancy) came back normal. No sign of infection. Also no odor or discharge. IC doesn't seem likely; it took 3 days and several doses of cytotech (sp?), then laminaria, then high dose pitocin to start contractions. After starting the meds, my outer os opened a little, but docs could see and feel that the inner os was still tightly closed. Does this rule out IC and does a repeat of the pPROM seem likely in my case? Anything I can do to improve chances of avoiding pPROM next pregnancy?
