I have been on bcp's for 10 years now and have endured the side effects. I recently had my first cholesterol test which came back high(296total,115triglycerides,213HDL,60LDL)I have a family history of high cholesterol and heart disease. I am slim and 29 years old but have had a high fat diet in the past with no weight gain problems. I have changed ny diet but am thinking about stopping bcp's if they are contributing to my high cholesterol. I have also had low libido on bcp's. My dr. had me try Loestrin but it was unsucessful in treating libido. I am now starting Yasmin to see if that helps libido. I have also had the facial brown patches for over 8 years. I wear sunscreen and exfoiliate daily. I would consider alternate birth control if it would help my cholesterol levels. What is available other than condoms(I am married and monogomous)that will not give me these side effects? I sincerely appreciate your response.
