16 yr old w/4 cm septated cystFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 31 Aug 2002 19:45:29 EDT
I have a question please. My daughter, was recently diagnosed during an MRI (done for another reason, but this was an incedental finding..) with a 4 cm septated "thought" to be ovarian cyst. I have never had an ovarian cyst so I know NOTHING about these except the GYN office told me they are uncommon and sometimes require surgery. She is NOT in pain but has a cyst/syrinx in her spine that could decrease her sensation to pain. (she also has a 20 mm chiari malformation w/syrinx in thoracic area which we also just found out; her older sister has this too...) She will see a GYN dr on this Tuesday and wil probably be examined. She has never been to a GYN much less been examined! How common is this in someone her age? My grandmother died from ovarian cancer at the age of 40 many years ago. Thanks for any info!
