I have had my IUD almost 4 yrs now. I am wanting it removed. My gyno was not able to locate it during exam or colpo., so yesterday we did an x-ray. It is still there and he says it looks to be in the correct place, but that b/c the string is too short, that I will have to go into the O.R. and have my cervix dilated to have it removed. He says it should be an outpatient procedure. I am scheduled to see the doc again in 6 weeks. I have no insurance and we are looking to purchase some now, so the doc wanted to give me time to get coverage. My questions are....is that common? what should i expect? will this trouble mean that i may have trouble getting pregnant? and......should i go back to the doc that placed the IUD and see if he will take care of the problem, since it could be his fault (i was never told of a string or even to look for one monthly, as i have recently learned is the norm.) ??
