Re: 8cm.cyst and ibs at the same time.From: Curious (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 1 Aug 2002 19:50:52 -0500 (CDT)
Am just a patient, not of the medical field, but if your cyst has grown from 4cm to 8cm in just 2 months and a hysterectomy has been recommended, waiting from August to October for the surgery sounds rather barbaric to me. Have you talked to your general practioner about this or to a gynecologist? Have you gotten a second opinion? If it is your gyn who is on vacation I'd be talking to my GP fast. Is there a good teaching hospital near you? Even if you are stuck in an HMO or PPO if they can't provide adequate medical care for you - and I don't consider a 2 month wait for surgery given the symptoms you are experiencing as being adequate medical care - then you should be able to force them to allow you to go outside their HMO/PPO. A good teaching hospital that is federally funded will help you out. Usually you can get in much sooner than you can get a first time visit w/a local specialist and you would have the advantage of doctors EXPERIENCED w/your type of medical need. If I were you I would be heading to the nearest teaching hospital - yesterday.
