post-mentrual vaginal dischargeFrom: Sylvia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jul 2002 12:50:26 -0500 (CDT)
Every month within about a day or two after the end of my period, I get a vaginal discharge that makes me itchy. It can last 8 or 9 days. At first, I was treating it as a yeast infection but the treatments never worked. The discharge is white. It starts out kind of mucus-y. After a couple of days it gets more liquid, and then it starts to get thicker and can get almost pasty or a little cottage cheesey sometimes. It stays white throughout. It gets stuck in the folds of skin and is persistently itchy. I dealt with this problem a couple of years ago. At the time, I was seeing a naturopath who was able to get it under control with acupuncture, some drops I would put under my tongue (don't know what's in them), and some dietary changes. Then this winter and spring, I was under tremendous stress for way too long because of a family situation. It affected my health in a lot of ways, one of which was to make this discharge come back. I've stuck with the dietary changes that the naturopath suggested. The drops don't seem to be working (although they were nothing short of miraculous the first time around). I've been taking Acidophilus. It doesn't seem to be helping. Nothing seems to be helping. If anything, I feel like all these stress-triggered things are worse now that the stress itself is actually over.
