Re: 'Standard Days' Birth Control Method or CycleBeadsFrom: eek (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 Jul 2002 09:28:13 -0500 (CDT)
That is still the rhythm method, which uses past cycles to predict future ones. The beads are just extra. It doesnt' use the three fertility signs such as basal body temperature, cervical fluid or cervical positioning. Please get the book called 'Taking Charge of your Fertility, the natural approach to attaining or postponing a pregnancy" by Toni Weschler. This is an all natural form of birth control and is so much more effective than what you describe. I could go on and on, but it is a medical fact that just because you had 29 day cycles doesn't mean you will every month. Stress and other factors can cause a delay in ovulation, which will cause a delay in your period. You wouldn't know about when a delayed ovulation woudl happen unless you were *actively* looking for it and not basing ovulation on previous cycles. Also, as you enter your middle 30s, you coudl start peri-menopause which can cause cycles to shorten and shorten. In other words, you may not always have a 29 day cycle and unless you were actively observing your fertility signs, you won't know if and when that happens. The beads can't tell you that. Good luck,
