menstrual cycle after nursingFrom: Thompson (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Jun 2002 02:25:59 -0700 (PDT)
I am 32 years old and have two children, my daughter is 5yrs.old and my son is 18 months old. My 18 month old recently stopped nursing and I have experienced two unusual periods. Even before my children, my cycles were never 28 days. They were more like 30 to 40 days apart. But other than that , I considered them normal- lasting 6 or 7 days, tops. But my last two periods have lasted much longer!? The first one lasted about 11 days with heavy bleeding and a lot of pain. 50 days later, I am experiencing my second period since my son stopped nursing, and I have had almost no discomfort, but I have been bleeding for 12 days! Is this my body just trying to get into a "regular" cycle again? I am trying not to worry - and was hoping you could give my some comfort. Sincerely, KAT
